As many Yamaha QY100 enthusiasts know, one of the more frustrating limitations of this otherwise powerful sequencer is its 8-measure maximum in Pattern Mode. Despite its remarkable versatility as a music workstation, this restriction feels unnecessarily limiting, especially for those who crave complex arrangements and extended musical passages.

Fortunately, I’ve made a breakthrough. I’ve found a way to bypass this 8-measure cap and you can too!

Unlocking 32 Measures

Like many users, I initially accepted the 8-measure limit as a constraint of the hardware. However, it turns out it’s capped in the software and can be altered to any value up to 32 measures (More than many modern sequencers offer).

Side note: Interestingly, the amount of measures can be increased to value of 256 however this leads to an unpleasant audio glitch.

Get More Bars

Use these specially constructed QY100 Style Files as the basis for your next project. With these you will be able to increase the available amount of measures in the Intro, MainA, MainB, FillAB, FillBA, and Ending sections of your patterns.
