All of the hidden features and custom user styles being uncovered at QY100 Explorer can be easily loaded on to your Yamaha QY100. Here’s how to do it.

What you need:

  1. Yamaha QY100 Music Sequencer
  2. Smart Media Card (this is the card that inserts into the slot on the side of the QY100)
  3. USB Card Reader (one that has a Smart Media Card slot)
  4. Computer

Steps for loading .Q1P file on to Yamaha QY100:

Step 1 – Download a .Q1P file (like any of the ones available here).

Step 2 – Connect the USB card reader to your computer.

Step 3 – Insert the Smart Media Card into the slot on your USB card reader (hooked to your computer).

Step 4 – Drag the .Q1P file onto the Smart Media Card.

Step 5 – Remove the Smart Media Card from the reader and insert it into your QY100.

Step 6 – With the QY100 powered on, go to Pattern Mode and navigate to an empty User Style (U01 to U64).

Step 7 – Click the “Card” button on the QY100.

Step 8 – Change the filetype from FILE=ALL to FILE=STYLE.

Step 9 – Select “Load” in the menu.

Step 10 – Navigate to the file, highlight it, and click the “Enter” button to load it.

Step 11 – Click the “Exit” button to back out of the menus.

The custom user style has now been loaded on to the Yamaha QY100, ready for you to play with.
