eichian1 goes over how to replace the backup battery in the Yamaha QY100 music sequencer.
A sign that the QY100’s backup battery is dead/or nearly dead is that you will frequently begin seeing the MEMORY FULL error message. This may be displayed when powering on the device, attempting to access the JOB menu, or when trying to receive a BULK DATA DUMP over MIDI or TO HOST connection. While it may seem counterintuitive, this MEMORY FULL error message in fact means that the device has no working memory due to poor backup battery life.
If you are lucky enough to notice a low or nearly dead backup battery in your QY100, you can use the BULK DUMP feature to save your song/pattern data as .syx files to your computer, or backup your files to a SmartMedia card.
The Yamaha QY100 takes a CR2032 3V battery.
Note: When the backup battery is replaced, all file data will be lost (if not already backed up elsewhere), and the device will return to it’s factory settings. You will see a FACTORY SET message displayed upon completing the backup battery replacement and turning your device on for the first time.
